Allianz was founded in Berlin in 1890 with the aim of ‘making life simpler, easier and safer’ for people.

In the UAE, Allianz has partnered with Orient Insurance company, which was established in 1982 as part of the well renowned Al-Futtaim Group.

They also now own NextCare, one of the most respected third party administrator’s in the Middle East, showing their commitment to the region.

Overview

Allianz provides international worldwide health care to individuals, families and businesses, and specifically of interest to expatriates living in the UAE, it provides comprehensive corporate health insurance plans.

Allianz provides separate plans for expatriates living in Dubai & Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE to ensure they are compliant with the respective health authorities in each of the emirates.

The individual health insurance plans cover professionals, students, couples planning a family, established families and employees leaving their companies.

Allianz also provides corporate medical insurance schemes for small and medium enterprises, large corporations, IGO’s, NGO’s and government employees.

Allianz provides ultimate convenience through their ‘My Health App’ that stores all policy and membership details. The app makes it convenient to submit claims, find a hospital, or health assistants and is highly secure.

Corporate medical insurance plans and individual and family plans

Allianz provides four core plans designed to cover for the more expensive medical costs associated with in-patient treatment, rehabilitation, out-patient surgery, nursing at home, routine maternity and medical evacuation. 

The core plans can then be supplemented by a choice of out-patient, dental and repatriation plans.  

This modular approach offers more flexibility to find the right level of cover.

Below are the four corporate group health insurance plans offered by Allianz

  1. Maximum plan benefit – USD $ 10,500,000

Executive

  1. Maximum plan benefit – USD $ 2,100,000
  2. Private room
  3. Maternity - USD $ 8,500

Classic

  1. Maximum plan benefit – USD $ 1,600,000
  2. Private room
  3. Maternity - USD $ 2,000

Select

  1. Maximum plan benefit – USD $ 1,060,000
  2. Semi-private room
  3. Maternity - USD $ 5,650

These core plans can then be matched with one of three out-patient plans (covering benefits like GP and specialists' visits, diagnostic tests and prescribed medication)

Gold

  1. Unlimited out-patient cover
  2. Prescribed Medicines paid in full
  3. Health Screening - $1,700
  4. Infertility - $17,000 per lifetime

Silver

  1. Out-patient Cover - $61,700 limit
  2. Prescribed Medicines paid in full
  3. Health Screening - $850
  4. Infertility - $17,000 per lifetime

Pearl

  1. Out-patient Cover - $51,000 limit
  2. Prescribed Medicines - $1,400

Dental and repatriation plans can also be added to any of the modules chosen.

Employee leaving scheme:

Employees have the option of enjoying many of the same benefits that they were entitled to as a group scheme member even when they leave their company and relocate, or repatriate.  This option is available to people on Allianz’s private international healthcare plans.

Which hospitals, clinics and pharmacies can I have access to if I am insured with Allianz?
How long does it take for a claim to be processed?

If all claims are submitted with all relevant documents, invoices and receipts, Allianz will process the claim within 48 hours.

Can I review the status of my claim online? What are the other ways to follow up?

Yes, you can review the claim on Allianz's website however, we recommend downloading the MyHealth app on your smartphone because it is an excellent solution to all your healthcare needs when you’re insured with Allianz.

We are a largely German workforce and were of course drawn to providers we recognised as delivering excellent services.

We do find that our coverage is at a premium - but the level of benefits and customer services is so high.

We spent time looking at the man choices, but overall we, as a company, are wholly pleased with our Allianz package and I do strongly recommend.

Expert Assessment of Allianz

Allianz is one of the largest 3 medical insurance companies in the world, and they pride themselves on providing top quality service, and they offer a wide variety of plans and global coverage.

We’re highly satisfied with Allianz’s group medical insurance plans and healthcare services, especially when it comes to their corporate medical insurance packages for the UAE.

We especially like that they offer a modular product.  This allows clients to mix and match their out-patient and in-patient benefits to suit their needs, along with providing a co-insurance option.

Therefore, someone who requires high levels of in-patient care may not utilise the policy for doctors’ visits or dental cover, thus saving them money and protecting them from being over insured.

Corporate clients and their employees love the ‘My Health App’ as it provides convenient access to all policy documents, ease of making claims, lists of hospitals nearby, and a lot more functionality. With all claims being processed within 48 hours, there is rarely a reason to escalate anything to Allianz, but when a follow up is needed, the app makes this process a lot simpler.

Allianz offers continuous worldwide cover on all their company health insurance schemes; this is very popular with expats living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as it provides the same policy when they leave their current company and relocate or repatriate.

Although excellent at day to day claims (with all claims being processed within 48 hours), Allianz excel as an insurer that is reliable in an emergency. When members are really ill, whether home or abroad, Allianz have a proven track record of superb support and helping the member focus on recovery.
