From London to Dubai - a leap that changed everything

Now, as Director of Financial Life Management at AES in Dubai, she provides cross-border, international planning for globally mobile individuals and families, helping them navigate complex transitions and live with more clarity and confidence.
What are the biggest challenges you've faced professionally or personally and how did you overcome them?
Moving to Dubai was huge, personally and professionally. I had just 10 days between finishing work in London and flying out, which meant giving notice, saying goodbye, and decluttering over a decade’s worth of life. It was intense, emotional, and very liberating. The paperwork on arrival was daunting too, but with AES’s support, especially from Emmy, it all came together just in time.
What key achievements or milestones are you particularly proud of?
I’m proud of building a career that feels both challenging and meaningful. Joining AES has also been a milestone, being surrounded by a high-calibre, international team has pushed me to grow in new ways and approach financial advice from a truly global perspective.
How do you personally define success in your career and life?
For me, success is having a positive impact on people’s lives while staying true to my values. Professionally, that means offering advice that’s deeply thoughtful and genuinely helpful. I love the depth of conversations I get to have with clients, it often ends up feeling like you're advising a friend. In life, success means crafting a lifestyle that’s both meaningful and enjoyable, spending quality time with my family and making sure the everyday feels just as rewarding as the big milestones.
What practical advice would you offer someone looking to grow their career?
Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks, growth often happens when you step outside your comfort zone. The more time you can spend in the ‘stretch zone’ the more it becomes second nature. Also, surround yourself with people who challenge you, ask thoughtful questions, and are generous with their knowledge. Finally, never stop learning and questioning; curiosity is a career superpower.
How do you maintain a work-life balance?
Dubai is surprisingly good for balance. The work culture is high-performing, but there’s also a real understanding that we’re all human and life outside of work matters. The sunshine, the outdoors, the pace of life, it all means our family time is not just regular, but really enjoyable.
Reflecting on your decision to move to Dubai, how has the experience shaped you?
It’s completely broadened my perspective. Working with people from so many cultures has opened my eyes and made me realise how small my London bubble had become. I’ve made more new friends here in eighteen months than in over a decade in London, and it’s been genuinely transformational, both for my career and for our family’s happiness.
Looking forward, what goals are you excited to achieve next?
I’m really excited to keep growing something meaningful at AES, pushing forward our vision for deeper, life-led financial planning. I want to help people make smarter decisions that aren’t just financially sound, but that genuinely enrich their lives. And personally, I’m looking forward to continuing to build a joyful life here with my family.
